Mary was a dedicated and diligent worker. She held many positions during her travel; The Supreme Conductress of the Supreme Grand Chapter, Past Associate Grand Matron of Metropolitan Grand Chapter, Past Worthy Matron of Ruth Chapter #549, Noble Commandress of Canary Court #1 Daughters of Isis. She also worked as the office secretary for the Supreme Grand Chapter of America. </p><p></p><p>Sis. Matthews was an exceptional example of what a SiStar should be and all of her work spoke for her. Mary exemplified the virtue of each of the Heroines of our Organization. She fought for what was right even when it was not popular. She was a kind, loving and very compassionate person. She was eager and willing to help everyone she met. Mary was always giving and sharing of whatever she had. She always greeted everyone she met with a smile and a kind word. Mary touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. Above all she put God first in everything she did. She kept the faith and fought a good fight, her course is now finished</p><p></p><p>On Wednesday, August 30th 2006 at 3:50 AM she departed this life at Long Island College Hospital. Mary was called to her eternal meeting place to receive her reward</p><p></p><p>We are extremely Honored to have had the pleasure and opportunity to name our chapter after this Phenomenal Virtuous Woman.
